Now is the time for intellectuals in America and around the world to stand for the truth and to use the power of words to influence society for the good of all.  This web site will give information on the importance of this urgent task and serves to promote the kind of vision that so many Catholic intellectuals in the not-so-distant past had hoped to accomplish.  This blog takes its name from my book, A Catholic Brain Trust:  The Catholic Commission on Intellectual and Cultural Affairs, 1945-1965 (Notre Dame Press, available June 2011).  Let this be a forum for intelligent discourse on contemporary Church and society, a place where reason rules and responsible freedom is an accepted norm.
